The Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum – home of
NFL champions the Oakland Raiders, Oakland Athletics and Golden State
Warriors - is located 3 miles from Oakland International Airport
and has nearly
10,000 on-site parking spaces. The complex rests on
120 acres and was constructed in 1966 at a cost of $25.5
million.
More than 91 million people have passed through the turnstiles. The
Stadium is currently undergoing a $100 million renovation for the
Oakland Raiders and Oakland A's. The transformed Arena will have
over 19,000 seats, 72 suites and club seat areas. The “Wave’s" first
baseball appearance occurred during an Oakland A's game in October
1981.
Oakland Coliseum History
It all began on April 17, 1968, when colorful and controversial
owner Charles O Finley's Athletics played their first home game
in the Bay Area. Since then, the Oakland Coliseum has provided
a stage for nine division champions, six American League pennant
winners and four World Champions. Reggie Jackson, Catfish Hunter,
Rollie Fingers, Rickey Henderson and Dennis Eckersley are just
a few of the outstanding players who have called the Oakland
Coliseum home.
